Alonso Corona, the new executive director of the Napa County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, introduces a program built to help local businesses survive the unexpected. The NCHCC's Business Resiliency & Disaster Preparedness program brings together experts from the Small Business Development Center, the Napa Sheriff's Office, local insurance agents, and more to equip business owners with the tools and knowledge they need to outsmart disaster.
The program covers critical ground: how to respond when disaster strikes, whether your business is actually covered by insurance, where to find financing for uninsured damage, and how your community can support you through recovery. From evacuation protocols and hazard mitigation to identifying grants, loans, and community resources — the goal is to make sure no business owner is caught off guard.
In a region where wildfires, earthquakes, and flooding are real threats, the program emphasizes that preparedness isn't optional — it's essential. Knowing your coverage gaps, building strong community ties, and having a plan in place before disaster hits can mean the difference between recovery and closure.
